Not long after leaving Amarillo, we stumbled upon Russell's Truck and Travel Station in Gkenrio, NM. The place has an amazing classic car collection, and travelers can visit for free. They have a diner and gift shop. Route 66 was all about the car! They're so well designed we could say they're works of art. Most midcentury modern homes had car ports meant to showcase the car; a huge part of life in Post WWII life. We brought Elvis music CDs to fit the mood.
