Memory Wheels

Oh, the rush of feelings and memories

at the sight of these bicycles.

Spring and summer sandlot days

barefooted adventures, canteens,

open skies and chasing butterflies

Marbles and holes on the ground,

ladybugs, and fireflies in a glass jar

I recently took this photo while camping near Inks Lake State Park in Texas. It was a beautiful day and a crowd of spirited kids was having the time of their lives. It was a sudden moment when the rush of memories and feelings hit me. My youth, hidden deep inside me, popped up spontaneously shaking me out of the present moment. I climbed up the hill to follow them feeling energized. They had found a place to fish amidst the rocks.
